Project Assistant at Vattenhallen Science Center

Vattenhallen Science Center is an interactive meeting place at Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Lund Municipality.

The operation currently consists of 15 employees, of which four work in Helsingborg, but also has about 50 student guides who assist visitors.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

We are looking for a project assistant to work in the operations at Campus Helsingborg. As a project assistant, your task is to support the operations manager, educators, engineers, and administrators in the Science Center Helsingborg's activities. This includes participating in the preparation and gathering of materials and equipment, welcoming visitors, and guiding laboratory sessions. You will also be partially involved in the planning work and organizational development of the Science Center, particularly focusing on communication issues.

Since Science Center Helsingborg sometimes has events during evenings or weekends, and sometimes at other locations in the region, the employment may include some weekend and evening work.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Higher education deemed relevant for the position or work experience considered relevant by the employer
  • Previous experience as a student guide at Science Center Helsingborg for at least one term
  • Interest in natural sciences and technology
  • Language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Good collaboration skills and a strong service orientation
  • Responsible and self-driven
  • Outgoing, easy to contact others, and good communication skills.

Desirable qualifications for the position are:

  • Driver's license (B)
  • Previous experience in relevant administrative and service-related work
  • Education in strategic communication.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen pedagogical and administrative work within Vattenhallen and contribute to its future development.

Other

An employment is desired to be filled, focusing on school activities at Campus Helsingborg. The desired start date is 2026-01-20 or by agreement. The employment is temporary until 2026-05-31 with a scope of 50 percent of full-time according to agreement.

Vattenhallen Science Center is part of Lund University Faculty of Engineering and is operated in collaboration with the Faculty of Science. Vattenhallen is a joyful interactive meeting place for the public, schools, the university, and the business community where activities of all kinds are offered in the premises with exhibitions on current technological developments and scientific research.

To show our young visitors that they can educate themselves in science, the operation is based on staff-intensive activities where student guides meet the visitors. Vattenhallen has become a great success and now has over 50,000 visitors per year from the entire region. Approximately 120 school students (ages 3-18) visit Vattenhallen every day, 4 students do internships every week, teachers come for further education, companies and organizations come for meetings, kick-offs, competitions, and parties, and on weekends and school holidays, the premises are filled with experiment-hungry families. We have a minibus, ExperimentExpressen, that travels to schools, libraries, and festivals, and we are building up a science center operation at the university's campus in Helsingborg.
